Designed and implemented control systems for two advanced composite fibre-alignment technologies, delivered remotely during the 2020 lockdown.
The challenge
Getting hands-on was tricky: the work needed physical access to specialised hardware during the 2020 national lockdown, so two equipment projects were relocated to a home office to continue development.
Our approach
For iCOMAT, control systems orchestrated equipment from real-time data via Beckhoff interfaces, with MQTT data capture, storage, download and custom analytics, and a UI built on the Beckhoff HMI framework and SmartAdmin for Django. For HiPerDif, PLC-based control delivered similar capture, storage, download and analytics, also using SmartAdmin for Django.
